The Fillout alternative for when the submission needs an owner
Fillout is genuinely good at what it is for: a fast, flexible form builder that slots into a no-code stack — the database, the automation and the portal are a connection away. If the form is one layer of a stack you already run and enjoy running, it is a fine choice. Teams come here when the submission itself needs a state, an owner and a deadline — and the stack is the part they are tired of maintaining.
The usual triggers
Three reasons people search for this page
Not adjectives — each one is a difference in mechanism, and each is checkable in behaviour before you commit anything.
-
The stack
A form layer over a no-code stack is at its best when the database, the automation tool and the portal are other products — and the truth about a submission lives in whichever one wrote last. In Faldaro the record is the truth: its state, its computed values, its documents, its payment and its audit trail are one row’s history, and every move is a permissioned act the database records.
-
The after
A submission that becomes a row in someone else’s table is worked by whatever that table can do. A Faldaro submission is a record with an owner, a state, a deadline that fires its own transition, an approval taken from an inbox and a tracking link the submitter watches — with nothing to wire between them.
-
The numbers
A score or a total computed in the browser is whatever number arrived with the submission. Faldaro recomputes every calculated value on the server, on every save and every read — a browser cannot fabricate a total, a price cannot be tampered into a discount, and a payment request has no field an amount could ride in.
The full category-level comparison — every mechanism, side by side — is on the why Faldaro page.
Switching
Moving is an afternoon, not a project
The form rebuilds itself from a description or a PDF, and your response history arrives as records — not attachments.
-
1 Rebuild the form
Describe it to the AI assistant and it builds a working, editable draft — or upload the PDF you were replicating and the agent turns that into one. Logic and calculations are wired in the same conversation, and nothing publishes until you say so.
-
2 Bring the history
Export your responses as CSV and import them: columns map to your fields by header, and every imported record is marked as imported in the audit log. Nothing replays — no notifications fire, no integrations trigger.
-
3 Share the new link
Public links are tokenized, so the form id cannot be guessed or walked — and a link that spreads too far is revoked by rotating it, not by taking the form down.
Fair questions
We like Fillout’s builder. Is Faldaro’s as good?
Fillout’s builder is excellent and we will not claim to out-polish it. Faldaro’s builder is a canvas that speaks the same field vocabulary the engine validates, an inspector driven by what each field can actually do, named test cases that lock the logic before you publish, and an agent that drafts the whole form from a sentence or a PDF. The trade Faldaro offers is everything the builder connects to: the record, the workflow, the documents, the payment and the trail.
Do you meter responses at all?
Submissions are never capped and never billed by count, on any plan. The free plan includes ten thousand a month and every paid plan is unlimited. The meters that do exist — storage, email sends, AI credits — track our own costs rather than your audience, and the pricing page states every one of them.
Our database is Airtable or Notion. Can Faldaro feed it?
Yes — signed webhooks on every transition, Zapier, and an API with keys scoped to explicit privileges carry the record outward. The honest question is which system is the record. If the database stays your system of record and the form is its front end, keep the stack. Faldaro is for when the submission itself should be the record: worked where it landed, with the state, the documents and the audit trail on the same row.
Can I import my Fillout responses?
Yes. Export them as CSV and import the file: columns map to your fields by header, and every imported record is marked as imported in the audit log. The import replays nothing — no notifications, no integrations, no freshly minted reference numbers.
Give the submission an owner
The free plan includes unlimited forms, ten thousand submissions a month and the same engine, workflows and records as every paid plan.
No card required.
